How to connect to the MLML file servers

WINDOWS:

Step 1: Verify that you have a working network connection and that you are authenticated with Cisco Clean Access:
  1. Verify your network connection by opening a web browser and loading and refreshing a web page.

    • If you are logged into Cisco Clean Access the requested page will load.
      - or -
    • If you are not authenticated with CCA, you will be redirected to the CCA Login page: https://caserver.mlml.calstate.edu/
  2. Login using your MLML username and password.
(NOTE: Using the "Guest Access" button does not grant access to the MLML files servers.)
  3. If you have trouble authenticating with Cisco Clean Access, take a look at the CCA Troubleshooting procedures outlined here. ***LINK NEEDED***

Step 2: Connect to the server using Windows Explorer:

  1. Open Windows Explorer using one of the methods below:

    • Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer
    • Press and hold the Window button on your keyboard and press the "E" key.

  3. Type the name of the server, preceeded by two backslashes "\\", into the address field of windows explorer and press enter.
    (For Example: "\\fileservermac" or "\\atlantic".)

For information about obtaining software through the MLML network, click here.

(If the server cannot be located or if a login window does not appear, enter the fully qualified address of the server, for example: "\\atlantic.mlml.calstate.edu" and press enter)
  4. Login to the file server using your MLML username and password (The one you use for Clean Access), when prompted. If your MLML username and password does not grant you access to the windows fileserver \\atlantic, login using the "software" user account.

When connecting to the server from a newer model Mac it is helpful to save the complete network addresses as favorites. Otherwise you may log in for mlmlapps and not be prompted to log in again for an undetermined amount of time. This is an inconvenience if you need to access mlmlstudentscan or your home directory (both of which require different usernames and passwords).

Suggested favorite locations:

smb://fileservermac.mlml.calstate.edu/mlmlapps
smb://fileservermac.mlml.calstate.edu/mlmlstudentscan
smb://fileservermac.mlml.calstate.edu/users/gstudent

Note: For the last one, replace "gstudent" with your mlml username, access to this directory will require your mlml password.

To add these as favorites, in Finder open the Go menu and select Connect to server. Type in one of these addresses in the "server address" field and click the + button. It will now appear in the list below the address field whenever you try to connect to the server.

Having trouble connecting to the network even though the address is typed correctly and you're using the correct username and password?

You may need to open a web browser and log in to CCA using your mlml username and password. Connection to the internet and network expires after a predetermined amount of time and you will be prompted to log in again when you open a web browser window.
